I have a good friend who produces some absolutely stunning messages about Scripture. He uses memes, ‘flip-books’ and other attractive graphics to help get his message across. The idea is to make his messages so visually appealing, you’ll take time to read them while you’re looking at them. Unfortunately, while he continues to present his information in visually appealing ways, he’s found it necessary to shorten his already brief messages. He says it’s necessary, because people don’t have the attention span necessary to read longer messages. While I understand why he’s doing what he’s doing, I cannot and will not follow his lead.
If you wish to understand what I know and am trying to show you, I’ll keep trying to explain it until you finally see what I see (or the Lord calls me to account). But you’ll have to do your part and work for it. That means you’ll have to do your own research. You can start by following the links I provide, but don’t stop there. Follow whatever trail you find in those links. Look for additional information that relates to the subject at hand. Dig! Question! Think! But do not tell me what I write was ‘tldr’ (the lazy person’s way of saying, ‘too long; didn’t read’). You will not be happy with the response you receive. You absolutely do have time to read the information I present to you. Put down your phone, turn off your TV and use some of that time we all waste to educate yourself. If you want to see what’s coming your way before it hits you, you can no longer afford the luxury of embracing that teeny-weeny attention span ‘They’ have programmed into you.
It only takes an hour or so a day to learn, but it takes hours every day to remain zombified. So decide: do you want to learn to see the Truth with clear eyes, or do you want to remain blind and live in darkness? Sight requires work, which requires prolonged, focused effort. But staying blind is easy. Just type, ‘tldr,’ in the comment section below and go back to your Facebook page. However, if you’re going to do that, please, move on from this blog. It’s not for you! I only want people who are seeking the Truth following me on this blog. This doesn’t mean we have to agree on everything, but it does mean we have to agree on ‘right reason.’ Otherwise, we will never agree on anything — ever with ourselves. If you think that sounds harsh, fine; but the type of people I want following me will not only understand that I’m not being a ‘hater,’ they’ll know I’m actually writing out of an agape love for those who are trying to find The Way.
It seems to me that those who sincerely follow Jesus Christ are the same who have the capacity to embrace words, rather than symbols, apps, memes, and all the rest of whatever the rubrics of Modernism dish up.
That being said, a few recent posts here have crossed my radar which I have only had time to glimpse the subject lines and, before I was able to respond in comment, found the posts deleted.
First, I discovered this blog when I googled “communism and narcissism.” The Road To Concord couldn’t be a more fitting title for a blog dedicated to the founding freedoms of our America, so it was with great appreciation that somehow I found my way here.
Meanwhile, in the several years I’ve subscribed, countless of your posts have been shared with colleagues in estimable positions within the framework of our Republic fighting for the same cause who, 9 out of 10 times, wholeheartedly endorse what it is you have to say.
I guess what I wonder is if on some level we might all question from time to time what we get out of our efforts, and when we meet that line, we then must ask of ourselves who it is that we are serving? Ourselves, or God?
Amen.
Wow! OK, all I have is, AMEN! Thank you. 🙂
