The following is merely a start to this subject. The history of ‘methodical mind manipulation’ is very, very dense, and the majority of it is equally as dark. It is the Hope of TRTC that this class and the following information will spark your personal interest to look into the many ways you are being manipulated, and that, by arming yourself with this information, you will become more aware of the effort to control how you think, as well as better able to defend yourself against those efforts.

The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind

The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organised habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.
As civilization has become more complex, and as the need for invisible government has been increasingly demonstrated, the technical means have been invented and developed by which opinion may be regimented.
The only difference between ‘propaganda’ and ‘education,’ really, is in the point of view. The advocacy of what we believe in is education. The advocacy of what we don’t believe in is propaganda.

THE HISTORY OF APPLIED MIND CONTROL THROUGH LANGUAGE

It is not necessary for the politician to be the slave of the public’s group prejudices, if he can learn how to mold the mind of the voters in conformity with his own ideas of public welfare and public service. The important thing for the statesman of our age is not so much to know how to please the public, but to know how to sway the public. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.
If you can influence the leaders, either with or without their conscious cooperation, you automatically influence the group which they sway. But men do not need to be actually gathered together in a public meeting or in a street riot, to be subject to the influences of mass psychology. Because man is by nature gregarious he feels himself to be member of a herd, even when he is alone in his room with the curtains drawn.

The Tyranny of Clichés: How Liberals Cheat in the War of Ideas

One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter: Sure, if the other man is an idiot. Was Martin Luther King Jr. a terrorist? Was Bin Laden a freedom fighter?
- Violence never solves anything: Really? It solved our problems with the British empire and ended slavery.
- Better ten guilty men go free than one innocent man suffer: So you won’t mind if those ten guilty men move next door to you?
- Diversity is strength: Cool. The NBA should have a quota for midgets and one-legged point guards!
- We need complete separation of church and state: In other words all expressions of faith should be barred from politics …except when they support liberal programs.

ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS OF MIND CONTROL
Gaslighting is an insidious form of manipulation and psychological control. Victims of gaslighting are deliberately and systematically fed false information that leads them to question what they know to be true, often about themselves. They may end up doubting their memory, their perception, and even their sanity. Over time, a gaslighter’s manipulations can grow more complex and potent, making it increasingly difficult for the victim to see the truth.

WARNING!
GASLIGHTING CAN BE A FORM OF APPLIED MIND CONTROL ON A NATIONAL OR EVEN GLOBAL LEVEL!
‘Gaslighting’ is a psychological technique. The links above all focus on how it applies to individuals within a relationship. However, it can be applied on a much broader scale — even a national, or global scale. That is one of the central warnings in George Orwell’s book, “1984:”

“Nineteen Eighty-four” — Britannica
The Party said that Oceania had never been in alliance with Eurasia. He, Winston Smith, knew that Oceania had been in alliance with Eurasia as short a time as four years ago. But where did that knowledge exist? Only in his own consciousness, which in any case must soon be annihilated. And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed – if all records told the same tale – then the lie passed into history and became truth. ‘Who controls the past,’ ran the Party slogan, ‘controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.’ And yet the past, though of its nature alterable, never had been altered. Whatever was true now was true from everlasting to everlasting. It was quite simple. All that was needed was an unending series of victories over your own memory. ‘Reality control’, they called it: in Newspeak, ‘doublethink’.

IF YOU KNOW HISTORY
Then you may be aware of the fact that the threat of ‘gaslighting,’ or of the intentional manipulation of the past is very, very old:
“He who does not know his past cannot make the best of his present and future, for it is from the past that we learn.”
“He who does not know the past can never understand the present, and he certainly can do nothing for the future.”
“To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child. For what is the worth of human life, unless it is woven into the life of our ancestors by the records of history?”

BUT IT IS EVEN OLDER THAN THIS
The Importance of Remembering History
The concept of remembering history is deeply embedded in the biblical narrative, serving as a crucial element for understanding God’s dealings with humanity and His covenantal faithfulness. The Bible consistently emphasizes the importance of recalling past events, both as a means of spiritual instruction and as a guide for righteous living.
OR, TO PUT IT ANOTHER WAY:
3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You[a] shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise,[b] she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.
8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool[c] of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”[d] 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” 11 He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
THE BIBLICAL TAKE-AWAY
It is all about control: we will be controlled, the question is by whom? We have been given free will, but that free will has limits. Essentially, the sum total of your free will amounts to one choice: will you surrender to your Creator, or will you give yourself to His enemies? And, lest you think you will do neither, we remind you that you cannot truly know your own mind, nor your own heart. So, if you think you will surrender to yourself, you are choosing to surrender to your Creator’s enemy — which would be you!
This choice is why Speaker of the House, Robert Winthrop (and others before him) said:
Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled, either by a power within them [God’s Spirit], or by a power without them [God’s enemies]; either by the word of God, or by the strong-arm of man; either by the Bible, or by the bayonet.
