For what it’s worth, the Bible actually tells us that the Messiah was born in the fall, most likely in September. What’s more, ‘main stream’ Christianity knows this to be true. Here, allow me to show you what the visible church ignores:
Much evidence exists. If God intended for us to celebrate Christ’s birthday, He would have had the scriptures record the time of His birth, as well as the location. The exact date is not known, yet evidence points to an autumn birth.
Luke 2:8 provides the first indication, as flocks were still in the fields at night. The flocks were brought in for the winter season of mid-October to mid-March.
Another indication is the fact that Jesus was born six months after John the Baptist (Luke 1:24-26, 36). The question then becomes, when was John the Baptist conceived? Because Zacharias’ priestly functions were carried out during the course of Abijah, at the time of the angel’s appearance (Luke 1:5-20), John’s conception occurred in mid-June, as verses 23-24 indicate. Thus, he would have been born in about mid-March. Therefore, Christ’s birth had to be in early autumn.
But this is not the only source that acknowledges the same Scriptural proof that Messiah was most likely born in the fall. The following articles come from solid, main-stream ‘Christian’ web sites, and both say the same thing:
Do We Know When Jesus Was Actually Born?
So, why do we celebrate the birth of Messiah in December? This is not a meaningless question. In fact, it is of crucial importance to all those who seek to bring honor and glory to YHWH (the True God) by obeying His instructions.
The Sabbath, and the Feasts are part of the moedim (set apart times). Every one of YHWH’s Feasts corresponds with a crucial part of the Messiah’s mission on earth. To do away with them is to do away with the Messiah and His mission, which, in turn, makes light of Messiah’s sacrifice on the cross.
But there is more to it than this. Christianity has also ‘done away with’ the Law. Well, who does Scripture say will try to change or do away with the Law and the set apart times?
Daniel 7:25 NASB25 And he will speak against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be handed over to him for a time, times, and half a time.
The Prince who is to come is a spiritual being (read all of Daniel closely). Therefore, it is a short leap in logic to connect this Prince who is to come with an attempt to change or do away with the Law and the Moedim (set apart times). If the Church were to do this, it would be apostate, which would make it a harlot or prostitute in the prophetic language. Thus, another short leap of logic connects an apostate church with the great harlot riding the beast (the marriage of church and state).
If you have eyes to see and ears to hear, the Spirit within you should affirm these connections as True. This is because it all fits together seamlessly — when you swallow Scripture whole.
So, decide for yourself what to do with ‘Christmas.’ But choose wisely, lest you choose the teaching and traditions of Man over that of the Father and His Son.
YHWH Bless,
